Meik Weiking (pronounced Viking), is chief executive of Denmark's Happiness Research Institute, a think tank exploring global trends of life satisfaction. When questioned on conquering the sense of impending doom that winter brings to one in 15 of us, Weiking explains as endorphin boosters, diet and exercise are an excellent place to start, but he believes that being sociable and fostering positive thoughts are most important. "To increase your happiness levels, spend time with others, walking, eating, even watching movies. And think of winter as a time to look forward to, not to get over. I look forward to the changing colours of the trees, candles, hot cocoa and warm Sundays at home."
